I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. It’s not a unique story at all. My mom used to ask me to write to practice my handwriting. I remember the Lisa Frank notebook (and think I still have it somewhere…) with the vibrant jaguar cub on the cover. I wrote stories about Hansel and Gretel and Humpty Dumpty (I think he still fell off the wall), and I fell in love with storytelling.

I’m just fascinated by the way you create worlds and I love how you introduce characters, so now Isis & Horus are on my wishlist. 😻
There are many common threads in our writing journeys, so these kinds of insights are so valuable to me. They help me know I’m still on the right path. After losing my shot being agented and working with an editor from one of *Those* houses to traumatic brain injury, and then learning that even the now-traditional routes to self-publishing won’t play nicely with my personalized breed of TBI, I threw it all up in the air and started writing whatever the bleep I wanted, just to see what would come out of my keyboard…what my rhythms were…what sets me on fire.
In those experiments dumping my memoirs on my blog and tossing up novel chapters as free serial, I’ve come to many of the same conclusions you’ve discussed here. So reading through your stumblings, insights, and successes gives me hope that all my own tromping around in the toolie bushes half-blind might actually lead me to the shores that would be conducive to both my writing and my health.
