Hi Everyone,
Happy summer! I hope you are getting out an enjoying the sunshine. It hasn’t been too hot in my area. Baby and I have been taking lots of walks. I like going to the park with her and hanging out under a tree. We’ve started reading together and she loves to look at the leaves and grass. It’s great :)
In Writing News
I have been getting back into a writing routine. While baby girl naps, I sit down and get back into it. Writing has helped me feel more like myself after having a baby. I’m always happier when I’m writing!
For the most part, I have been working on revising and getting Marredbury ready for publication here on substack. The revisions have been on the back of my mind for months. It feels really good to be getting them done and I’m excited to share the project with you (next week!!)
In Publishing News
I am back in my weekly schedule, so you will be seeing more posts from me. I’ve developed a routine for posts during my break, so you will be getting the same kind of post each week of the month:
Week 1: Short fiction review to spotlight the great fiction being published by genre magazines and indie authors (on Substack and beyond)
Week 2: Non-fiction on my work as an indie author
Week 3: Monthly update
Week 4: Fiction post
You may find that you aren’t interested in one kind of post over another. My hope is a schedule would give readers structure to read what they like and skip what they don’t.
Finally, Marredbury will officially launch NEXT WEEK! This is the serial anthology I’ve been working on. The series will be a collection of short stories all strung together with one through-line. This is different than any other writing I’ve done. I really can’t wait to share this project with you. It has been so much fun to create. I look forward to hearing what you think and applying that feedback to better the story.
Indie Highlight
Check out these indie authors! I’m currently enjoying The Haunting of Whitehall Manor. Waking up the Dead is next on my list. Both are light and fun stories.
You can get a free review copy of Waking up the Dead. This copy will be in exchange for an honest review of the novel anywhere you can find a book review (Amazon, Goodreads, Youtube, etc)
Posts you may have missed
That’s all I have for you today.
had asked about indie work being displayed at home in their newsletter. I shared my favorite shelf in our home. Do you have your work or other indie work/art showcased at your house? I’d love to see a picture or hear about it!
