Happy Belated Mother’s Day Readers,
I spent a beautiful day with my family. My husband arranged for some alone time for me to read and write in the morning, a massage, and then time at home with our daughter. So much to appreciate!
I wanted to give a shout out to a series I’ve been listening to about writer motherhood. Balancing a career, chasing a toddler, and squeezing in some kind of time for writing is no joke! I’ve been counting down the days until summer vacation for a long break where I can spend more time with our daughter and find more time to write. Lara Enrlich hosts Writer Mother Monster, an interview series where she chats with writer mothers about their experience mothering and writing. There is no one way to be mother and no one way to writer. Each episode is enlightening and inspiring. And their branding is awesome.
Through Writer Mother Monster, I was introduced to another writing community of mothers, Scribente Maternam. This community of mothers looks for make writing accessible to all, squeezing in writing and learning between diaper changes and school drop offs. They understand that for many people, writing is self care. Their community provides a space to meet other writer mothers, time to write, workshops, and so much more. I have been reading through their emails, keeping an eye out for meet ups and workshops that fit in my schedule (have I mentioned that I’m counting down the days for summer vacation?).
So, I wish all the writing mamas a wonderful Happy Mother’s Day! You deserve all the spoiling! Remember, “a boy’s best friend is his mother.” Norman Bates is a good example of a devoted child, right?
